After completing my university education, I embarked on a professional journey that allowed me to make significant contributions while developing my skills. My story is one of growth, impact, and resilience, beginning with an internship at Power and Co Engineering Limited and continuing into my current role as an Application and Software Support Engineer at Huawei Technologies.
In July 2020, I joined Power and Co Engineering Limited, where I quickly found myself in a dynamic environment that tested my adaptability and technical understanding. A memorable experience was supervising the team that set up one of the new Decathlon Ghana Showrooms, covering masonry, plumbing, painting, and electrical installations for commercial use. Each day was a lesson in leadership and resource management as I directed technicians, reviewed technical drawings, and procured necessary materials. I vividly remember the day I stepped in as the site supervisor in my manager’s absence, a moment that highlighted the trust my team had in my abilities. That experience taught me the value of accountability and attention to detail in delivering client-focused solutions.
Beyond technical supervision, I delved into the intricacies of AutoCAD, a skill that allowed me to provide critical feedback on client-provided drawings. These revisions not only optimized project outcomes but also ensured efficiency in execution. My time at Power and Co was a steppingstone in balancing technical expertise with interpersonal skills, laying a strong foundation for the next phase of my career.
By September 2020, I had joined Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd, where my career took a deeper dive into the world of telecommunications and technology. My role at Huawei was both challenging and impactful. I developed operational monitoring reports and network assurance reports for major Value-Added Service platforms, ensuring customers stayed informed about daily revenue, activities, and platform performance. These reports became critical tools for decision-making and customer trust.
One of my most significant accomplishments at Huawei was being part of the delivery and commissioning of a new Huawei Fiber to The Home platform. I played a hands-on role in configuring new virtual machines (VMs), integrating both internal and third-party systems, and conducting robust testing to ensure the platform’s seamless operation. This project not only allowed me to expand my technical expertise but also demonstrated my ability to deliver high-quality solutions under tight timelines.
In addition to my technical contributions, I regularly troubleshot and maintained customer platforms, ensuring uninterrupted services. I also participated in quality assurance testing for Huawei’s new billing system, where my meticulous attention to detail contributed to its successful deployment. Furthermore, training national service personnel on Huawei’s platforms allowed me to share my knowledge and help cultivate the next generation of skilled professionals.
During my time at Huawei, I gained a diverse set of skills that have shaped my professional growth. I became proficient in using Linux for systems optimization and database management, enhancing my technical problem-solving capabilities. My role required exceptional critical thinking to troubleshoot and resolve complex platform issues, as well as effective communication and teamwork to ensure seamless collaboration with colleagues and clients. Additionally, I developed expertise in quality and functional software testing, which ensured that the systems I worked on met the highest standards of reliability and performance. These experiences also deepened my ability to deliver outstanding customer support, emphasizing responsiveness and professionalism in every interaction.
Throughout these years, my journey has been defined by a commitment to excellence, a willingness to learn, and a desire to make a difference. From supervising project sites to optimizing telecommunication platforms, each step has reinforced my belief in the power of technology to transform lives and businesses.
